Fuses and Circuit Breakers

Across food processing plants, off-road vehicles, and heavy industrial facilities, overcurrent protection is critical to circuit design. A miscalculated fuse rating or improperly housed component can compromise an entire assembly.

Industrial fuses form the foundation of reliable protection, but selecting the proper device requires both product depth and engineering expertise.

Marsh Electronics, Inc. is an electronic component distributor serving OEMs across the Midwest for nearly 90 years.

With on-staff engineers and custom sub-assembly capabilities through our MarVac division, we offer design assistance, application expertise, and assembly support to help bring your circuit protection solutions from sourcing to finished assembly. Explore our product types, fuse holders, industry applications, and value-added sub-assembly services below.

Comprehensive Fuse Distribution & Engineering Support

Marsh Electronics stocks industrial fuses across the full technology spectrum, from conventional glass cartridge designs to self-resetting polymer devices.

Our product lineup covers a range of current ratings, voltage classes, and package formats to support diverse OEM build requirements.

We also integrate overcurrent protection components into fused sub-assemblies through MarVac, our value-add division. For OEMs looking to reduce incoming inspection and assembly labor, this means arriving components are already mounted, tested, and ready to install. Industrial Fuse Product Offerings

Our fuse inventory covers products from basic passive formats to advanced resettable fuses, all selected to address overcurrent protection needs across light and heavy industrial applications.

Glass cartridge fuses are the most common format, using a metallic element sealed inside a transparent tube to interrupt current at threshold. The transparent housing supports fast visual inspection, making these electrical fuses a practical choice for control boards, power supplies, and instrumentation panels. For dense PCB layouts, surface-mount electrical fuses mount directly to the board without through-hole leads.

Resettable PTC (positive temperature coefficient) fuses automatically reset after a fault clears. When current exceeds the trip threshold, the polymer material sharply increases resistance, throttling current flow. Once the fault clears and power cycles, the device cools and returns to low resistance.

These devices suit dense battery packs and motor drives where replacing a blown fuse following every overcurrent event is impractical.

Fuse Holders, Blocks & Accessories

The fuse performs the overcurrent protection function, but the holder determines whether that protection stays reliable through vibration, thermal cycling, and field service.

To ensure complete circuit reliability under harsh conditions, Marsh supplies a full line of mounting hardware:

  • Fuse holders. Available in panel-mount and PCB-mount configurations for cartridge and blade formats.
  • Fuse blocks. Configured as multi-pole distribution blocks for control panel branch protection.
  • Fuse clips. Provided in spring-steel PCB footprints and heavy-duty chassis-mount versions.
  • Accessories. Includes integrated indicator lamps and blown-fuse flags for rapid field diagnostics.

Pairing the correct fuse holders to the fuse format prevents the majority of circuit fuse hardware failures in the field.

Applications of Industrial Fuses

Food processing, commercial and off-road vehicles, and heavy industrial equipment drive the largest volume of fuse specification work at Marsh. Each places different demands on the industrial fuses specified into those systems.

In food processing, circuit fuses protect conveyor drives, temperature controllers, and pump motors from transient overcurrents. Wash-down environments require glass cartridge fuses and fuse holders rated for moisture ingress. Visit our Food & Beverage industry page for more details.

Mobile and off-road equipment subjects electrical systems to vibration and voltage transients that demand stable industrial fuses under constant mechanical stress. High-power industrial machinery generates fault currents that standard electrical fuses are not rated to interrupt safely, requiring current-limiting formats that clear faults in less than one half-cycle. We provide engineering consultation to select the correct current rating, voltage class, and speed class for each application.

Custom Sub-Assemblies via MarVac

Receiving pre-tested, fully populated assemblies reduces incoming inspection costs and shop-floor assembly labor.

Through our MarVac division, we integrate fuse blocks, build custom wire harnesses with fused branches, and complete full box builds. All sub-assemblies are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 and WHMA/IPC A-620 quality certifications.
